Graph paper is one of the most underrated math tools. It is not just for high school students or engineers! Schoolchildren as young as six can draw on grid paper instead of blank or lined paper. Imagine being seven-years-old and having to draw a number line on a blank piece of paper. It is daunting to make your math model match your teachers and look perfect. But on 1 cm graph grid paper the lines are already there for you. You just have to print it on A4 paper pdf format. Our 1cm grid paper is quick to print and comes in blue lines only and printable as grey on a monochrome printer. Use it for maths, drawing, designing, patterns etc.
Graph paper can help students when creating, drawing and organising their work when using:
Students could also use it as a blank hundreds chart. We have our students practice counting to 1000 (one of our state standards) by filling in a blank hundreds chart. Graph paper is great for students to create their own crossword grid puzzles. When you use a graph paper you shouldn’t worry much about exact measurements for a grid box. It is impossible to draw graphs on a plain sheet of paper, especially charts that show complex data. Using a graph paper makes the data clear and one can study the diagram quickly. For example, to show a figure for inflation on a plain sheet of paper is confusing and complicated. However, on a graph paper, it shows any fall or rise clearly.
The graph paper in mathematics can be used for different things:
